PM Body Leather, BDSM for over 30 years

In 1994, Peggy Müller went looking for leather goods that would last. She found none. So she sewed her own.

A gap became a workshop.

In the mid-nineties the choice of BDSM toys was thin, and the quality was worse than the prices suggested. What did not exist had to be made by hand: the first collars, cuffs and whips. All stitched, never glued.

The first customers were retail chains, Beate Uhse among them. With the orders came machines, then staff. The designs were not drawn up at a desk but developed in the workshop: build, use, change, build again.

Today our products sit in boutiques from Germany to the USA. They are still made the way they were 30 years ago, in one place, by our own team.

Pioneers, not imitators.

Some things that are taken for granted today did not exist before us. We were the first to use medical-grade silicone in BDSM products, at a time when material quality was barely a topic.

We were the first to pad collars and cuffs on the inside. And we were the first to offer collars and cuffs in several sizes. What works has always mattered to us.

Leather tells you where it came from.

We work exclusively with certified leather that is tanned within the EU, free of banned azo dyes, PCP and chromium VI. Conventional chrome tanning is hard on waste water and on skin. Our products are worn against bare skin.

Leather is a natural material and carries the traces of an animal's life. Small irregularities, fine scars, differences in grain. These are not flaws. Most manufacturers coat them over chemically so that every piece looks identical. We leave them where they are.

No synthetic leather, no plastic. The metal parts follow the same standard: no open rings, no open chains, everything cleanly welded.

We hold our lacquer to the same standard. We only use food-safe, saliva-resistant lacquers that are dermatologically tested and free of plasticizers, heavy metals and solvents. They are odorless and suitable for direct skin contact. Anything that ends up on the tongue or rests against the skin for hours has to be safe.

With gags we go one step further. We use only medical-grade silicone from Fun Factory, made in Germany. Odorless, tasteless, boilable and free of plasticizers.

Quality takes time.

There is a long road behind every piece. Working by hand is why no two pieces are exactly alike, and why they hold.

Stitched, not glued

Seams hold. Adhesive gives way as soon as heat, tension and moisture come together. So we stitch, including where nobody will ever see it.

Nothing is left open

Rings and chains are welded, edges rounded, rivets closed. A cuff should restrain without cutting in.

Tested first, listed second

We do not release fifty new items a year. A product joins the range once it has proven itself in practice. Not before.

Made in Germany.

What a product really costs is not always on the price tag. With cheap goods, many of those costs are simply carried somewhere else, by people, by the environment or by later generations. That was never a route we wanted to take.

Depth of manufacturing, quality standards, working conditions: that is what decides whether the label means anything. Our products do not travel around the world before they reach you. They are made here, under conditions we know, with a supply chain we can name.

Sustainability was never a trend for us. It follows from building things you only buy once.

In the trade press, 2008.

The industry magazine SHOPeLINE spoke with Peggy Müller about materials, depth of manufacturing and why a range is allowed to be smaller. Much of that conversation still holds today.
